In an effort to keep the area more safe, Bucks County will now have collection boxes for used syringes and needles readily available. Emily Rizzo wrote about the health update for WHYY.

“It’s really a great day that we’re able to do this,” District Attorney Matt Weintraub said. “Sharp collection has been taboo. And that’s why this has been so needed and so welcomed in our community.”

Along with Weintraub’s office, the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission, the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership, and several local hospitals collaborated to make the collections boxes readily available. The participating hospitals include Doylestown Hospital, Grand View Hospital, Jefferson Bucks Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital-Quakertown, and St. Mary Medical Center.

In addition to used syringes and needles, Bucks County residents can also use the boxes to disposed of used finger sticks and EpiPens.
