To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Space Needle, the icon’s roof returned to its signature orange hue. The color has taken on new meaning.

Uhm, the Space Needle now looks like the many syringes littering city streets and sidewalks around the Seattle Center.

Returning to the Space Needle’s retro color, inexplicably called “Galaxy Gold” since it’s clearly orange, was well-intentioned. But Seattle is much different than when the Space Needle was first unveiled for the 1962 World’s Fair. The city’s permissive drug culture lets addicts get high anywhere they please before ultimately overdosing.

How is it possible that no one has noticed the resemblance?
